Our CampusWINners reunited for an inspiring and joyful day of learning and sisterhood last weekend.
We kicked off the day with a #TBT moment. We watched the CampusWIN Orientation Day video which was lovingly prepared by BinYaprak's Tugba Demirkaya. We went back in time to our September meeting. Watch here!
CampusWIN Academy monthly meetings bring together our CampusWINners from 43 different universities. Each meeting has a topic that we explore deeper. This month's topic was "Creativity." Our program is inspired by World Economic Forum's "Future of Jobs" report and the fact that 65% of jobs that today's primary school students will hold have not yet been invented. At each academy meeting, we are exploring the skills we need to hone and discover.
We were hosted by two amazing Google women, Selin Kansav and Gülşah Yılmaz, and their team. Our program kicked off with mind-tickling presentations by Selin Kansav, Agency Business Manager and Gülşah Yılmaz, Senior Analytical Consultant at Google. Not only did we learn about creativity, we also learned about the state of digital affairs. The average attention span for the notoriously ill-focused goldfish is nine seconds and now our - the human's - attention span has dropped to 8 seconds recently, taking a plunge from 12 seconds. It is getting harder to get anyone's attention nowadays. Selin shared insights into how technology shapes our everyday lives, whether we know it or not, and how we can take control of the influence it has on us. Next we heard from Gulsah, who played a quick game of Kahoot! with us to get our brains working. Gulsah influenced us to carve our own path in life and follow our passion.
After this interactive session, our leaders visited Google's amazing office! We saw everything from where Google magic happens to the ways employees can decompress and rest after a tough day at work. The office was full of color and cheer, and our CampusWINners even had a chance to play with the cool gadgets that filled each room! We were super impressed by Google's playful work environment.
After a short lunch break, we went straight to business. Each CampusWINNer leads or contributes to a committee at CampusWIN. Committee presentations were inspiring, insightful and fun. A huge applause went to the BinYaprak social media committee who led our digital celebration of BinYaprak's Sisterhood Day (#istekardeslik) and became a Turkey-wide trending topic on Twitter. As is our tradition, we ended the ACOLD session with storytelling and reflections.
Next, we were in for a treat! We are grateful to Gulay Ozkan, Founder of GEDS, for curating our "Creativity" discussion with rock star panelists: Ceylan Naz Baycan, author, Cemil Şinasi Türün, entrepreneur and Tarık Yıldırım, entrepreneur. This discussion was live-streamed on Twitter and included advice to follow our hearts when making a decision; embrace our youth to pursue our passions, and to live life out of our comfort zones to change the world. We wished we could have spent more time hearing the inspiring stories of these speakers! Here are two book recommendations from the panel:
We are counting down to the next CampusWIN Academy Day in November. In the mean time, check out all the fun we had at Academy Day on our Facebook album. We are thankful to the following partners for today's event: Google Turkey, Pepsico, and Pernigotti.
