PartnerWIN: Story Telling Workshop with YenidenBiz

What is your story? How do you present yourself and your career break in an interview or to your close circles?  

On April 12^th, we hosted YenidenBiz members for a workshop on story telling. TurkishWIN is a longtime partner of YenidenBiz as our Founder Melek Pulatkonak is one of the co-founders of YenidenBiz, an NGO with the goal to help women get back to the workforce after a career break. We applaud YenidenBiz’s accomplishments in helping more than 150 women get back to work and raising awareness to the hidden treasures in Turkey- women who want to get back to the workforce. More specifically, YenidenBiz’s target audience is women with more than seven years of work experience and more than one year of a career break.

First, the participants introduced themselves and a quick networking session took place. Next, an interactive workshop followed, and we watched inspiring videos with delightful story telling elements.

A quick poll showed that our exercise would be focused on how we present the career break and the positive outcomes and amazing takeaways in that period. First, it takes courage to take a long break for most of us. We should pat ourselves on the shoulder for this big step.  Second, even if the break is forced on us for various unwelcome reason, how we reflect on the episode and present it, is what matters.

Next, our group broke into teams of two and got into the story telling exercise for an intimate session. An interactive sharing circle followed. As some participants were looking for full time jobs, others were keen on positioning themselves in consulting projects. Different backgrounds, delicious stories.

We ended our workshop with networking and new stories!
